Moving into a new home (especially first timers) and its hard to take into consideration every bill you will have, i think its a good idea if everyone posts their bills and roughly what they pay...

Council tax - £52 (single person)
Gas - £40
Leccy - £35
Home insurance - £19
Life Assusrance - £28.12
Water - £32
TV License- £12
Broadband - £23
Car Insurance - £30
Home phone - £18
Sky - £30
Mobile - £30
Pet Insurance - £10
Food - £120 a month
Fuel - £120 a month (30 a week)
Mortgage - £300

When you move in its best to have your essentials for the first few months, then get internet, sky etc

As for gas and leccy - these vary from property to property. Remember if you have an electric shower that will bump your electric usage up, same for ovens etc. You will never know exactly how much you will use untill you have been in the property for a full year and the average useage per month has been calculated.

To show you the difference - i am on a gas meter, i use £10 a MONTH in the summer, and £10 a WEEK in the winter.

Make sure when you move in you call and give your meter readings, DONT do what i did and not give any, in case you get lumbered with an excessive bill!

REMEMBER to budget extra for your first months mortgage payment, as it can be upto double in the first month

Also if you are living alone dont forget to apply for your single persons council tax discount with the council

and people buying flats - dont forget any leasehold/maintanence payments you will make in addition to bills.

If i've missed anything please add!

I live in Wales Russ, so house prices here are about 10 years behind which helps and your older than me, so yeah might take home more (not that that has anything to do with anything?)

Only thing I wouldnt be paying out that everyone else does is fuel.

Still a fair amount though. Though theres a few bits that people could go without if things got a bit tight. Sky and broadband for example.

Beans and toast every night would also slash the food bill in half.

I have done that, its not good for you

Worst thing i have experienced is running out of money 3 days before i was expecting too... and running out of emergency gas credit and having to live in a house with no heating near the top of a fking valley for 3 days

Because im on my own every other night i usually tend to have soup and a bit of crusty bread which works out cheaper as well, then have a 'proper' dinner every other day!

But no to beans on toad every day, just take your dinner into work and save a couple of quid every day that way!
