I'm thinking about selling my C and getting something else, but I need to keep my NCB building up. I have 6 months to go before the year is up, so if were to change my car on the policy, would Admiral still count the 6 months?

Anyone done it before?

that's what I'm thinking, just thought that they might be funny as I'd be changing cars, and they'll try anything

Yes they will treat it as a car change but will up the premium/monthly cost to suit the new car. I wouldn't say they will take the 6 months into account but you won't lose it. At the end of the next 6 months you will have the full year rather than only 6 months if you switched insurers.

Yeah, that's what I meant, I didn't word it very well.

As long as they transfer the 6 months I have to the amended policy, that's all that matters.

If they won't do it, I'll have to keep the Corsa longer I suppose.

They will do it, but they will have you over a barrel with regards to your new quote. They might not be as cheap as losing the 6 months and taking out a new policy with someone else. I have done this before with a bike and saved about £300 even with losing the 6 months.

I'll give them a ring on monday, see where I stand.

Cheers for the help

They just advise you of the increase to your policy & carry on where you were.

In theory, the new figure should be less, but I can't see them doing that.

Depends what I buy.

I have no NCB, and I'm 20, so I'm a 'high risk'

I fancy a change now too, and it seems like a good idea to get something which I can insure for less

I am. I was with Elephant before as well, who are part of the same company. I didn't lose any NCB when changing cars,
