The S2k is my favoured option however I have my heart set on a White one from Japan so would have to import it and go through all the hassle that comes with it e.g. SVA, model reports, blah blah blah
The advantage of the Astra is that I can have it now, cheaper insurance, still quick etc.
As a guide I am looking to spend £9000.
My only concern is that I buy the Astra then wish I'd bought an S2k
Thoughts?

Standard for stand the S2000 will have the edge, the power will be more progressive too. The Astra will offer more creature comforts, theres the buzz of the turbo coming in too, and it won't be long before you want a re map!!

All good points. It's also the case though that I can get a much better Astra for 9k than an S2000 for 9k

I think you have answered your own question there
the S2k is more expensive for a reason.
bare in mind its less practical etc though

Make sure you drive one first, I drove one and was shocked at how it DIDNT live up to any of my expectations!
Granted it wasnt slow but I thought it would have been alot quicker!

Hmmm for me it would be the S, just a nicer car imo, 2 seater sports car , fast , reliable and its a convertable!!
there are a few white ones about, i mean you could allways budget 8K on one and 1K on a respray , ive been getting estimates on doing it , all coming back at that sort of price.
I think once you go out in an S you will be set on one.
mmmmmm

if the practicality isn't an issue i'd get a s2000. my mate who works at honda says he prefers the s2000 to his dc5.

S2k if you want the better car, but if you have friends and need rear seats get the GSi as its quite tunable if you get bored Plus running costs may be less with the GSi insurance etc

petrol will be cheaper in the honda, insurance probably is more though. pro's and cons are endless, just depends what you want.

Another option is a DC2 Integra. You would get a mint one UK one for 8k with money left over for insurance etc. Theres plenty of white ones around too
E.g
