they do look rank at 1st but once you have driven one you used to the looks.the M sport is a much nicer looking car

I think they look really good.
As mentioned, there was a pic in AutoExpress. It looked really nice in 3 door.
I'd have one over a Golf, A3 etc...

IMO the 3dr is uglier than the 5 dr.
My mum has a 116 which is slower than a week in the jail, but steering and handling are spot on - not keen on the bmw gearchange though.
