Looking to upgrade the forum that i run on my website, Now i like the layout of corsasport so maybe Ian could help out with name ect

Been looking into vBulletin is £91.00 (Owned License)

Stick of phpBB so really want change to something else

no there isnt im guessing you just dont really know how to modify it etc.

check out http://www.vagweb.co.uk/forums for some modding ideas

my thoughts are basically if it doesnt have it then just make it.

vbulletin is crap i wouldnt even use it if it were free

plus you have to pay, i shudder to think of the amount of DB it queries it makes in just one page load

too many DB queries going on,too much DHTML crap aswell. forums i use that are vbulletin are noticably slower

no where near, have you seen the amount of pointless crap that is loaded on vbulletin page refresh? especially in the actually thread displays themselves

also phpbb uses no DHTML whatsover

Possibly just the hosting.. You can disable any dhtml crap also.

Steve is correct, vbulletin forums are slower than any other type of forum I use.

Like what exactly? I have worked with vBulletin for years. to be honest, I usually get rid of stuff like thread preview text etc..

no its not the hosting they are all slow.

a forum i use loads all this on one post and this is just in one menu bar, this isnt taking into account the posts and other normal stuff you see

I like vBulletin. Like the way it works, just preference really. I also find the ones I have worked on, very quick. Not noticably slower than Vagweb, anyway.

I do find, however, that a lot of vBulletin's are bloated with addons and hacks that add a lot of unecessary queries. But this is nothing to do with vBulletin.

Its a matter of opinion really, just don't see how someone can blind outright say its crap.

To the person who started the thread, I would use phpbb, cuz its free.. lol. But, vBulletin isn't crap.

i bet ya it still does the db queries where it would do normally just doesnt display the stuff if the options not ticked

That’s true and I don’t have the knowledge to do so as well I though VB would be easy to use as it looks easy

vB is a decent piece of forum software - it's breeze to use and develop with. It's not bloated, nor is it slow. You have to bare in mind that the speed of your forum really depends on it's environment.
