the only MK3 SRi was a 2.0 8v
The GSi was 2.0 16v (red top) and late GSi's were 2.0 16v eco's and 1.8 16v eco's.
There was also the 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 16v eco's in Sports.
Apart from that they were either 1.4 or 1.6 8v's

X20XEV is 16v. R plate would make it a Sport, which was available with that engine.

R plate GSi would be a 1.8 16v (C18XE)

not massively fast, don't handle great, as they're a bit lardy, and they rust, lots.

Are you talking early or late?
Early are the XE's (red top) and later are the Eco's

So it was a 2.0 16v Sport. Dunno where I got SRi from.
Any way, anyone got any stats on them?

Don't all rust, i had a 1993 Merit and it was MINT, not a spot of rust, it depends on hwo well they are looked after. My Sport is on 160k and only showing small ammounts of rust on one of the Arch lips!
Handling is debatable, its not nimble but its certainly controllable, and mine goes not too bad

I have rarely seen a GSi without rusty rear arches, which hasn't had work.
If you can find one without rust, they're good cars.

Now you have said that, Robin, i don't know of an immaculate MK3 GSi, apart from a PH2 i know of thats RARELY driven, and its completley mint.
People told me to XE my Merit all the time, but i couldn't be arsed

Thought so. Same engine as the Caliver and calibra ecotec's then. Anyone know what they weigh in at?
