I seriously am considering selling my car at auction.

I have no need for it any more, its been standing on my drive since June and not been moved since.

Anyone ever sold a car at auction, plus roughly how much would I be looking at for a 1999 Alfa 156 2.5 V6 Sports pack 3 with 78k on the clock.

you'd get less cash at auction than you'd get from a private sale.

Have you tried selling it via more normal channels?

The clutch is on the way out, I would feel bad selling it to someones face. Only thought about selling it this weekend as me and the lass share a car and with my operation in June driving is alot of effort at the moment, so avoiding doing it.

If you put it on ebay tonight it could be gone by weekend.

I bought my R5GTT for £1k and sold it on ebay for £1,550. Just add as much info as you can and you don't do too bad.

Just write in the bad points that it might need a new clutch soon and be honest.

remembe to put 'i reserve the right to remove the listing blah blah blah', then you can take it to the auctions anyway.

put it in the local car auction and put a reserve of £1200 on it. then if it doesnt reach the reserve try it on ebay or something else or try and re-negotiatie with the buyer.

is less hassle at motor auctions imo. ebay if you dont state the faults they are well within their rights to walk away.

ive sold loads of things at auction and never had a problem just make sure you take any personal items out of it etc etc.

I was thinking putting 1200 on it, parkers say a poor condition model should be 2200 and a decent one 3000 so 1200 is not alot to ask.

in an auction all depends on whos there etc etc and what night, our local auction works like this:

monday : Banger night all motors under £1000
Tuesdays: comercials (vans, lorries etc et)
wednesdays : finance reposesions and ex fleet
Thursdays : direct part exchanges (dixons, jct600 etc etc)
fridays : prestige and sports

so there would be no point in you taking it down on a tuesday as it wont appeal to anyone there.

best thing to do is go down one night and see how it all works! get a feel for it!

Took your advice Robin.

Goes in the auction tomorrow as well though I have a high reseve on it tomorrow then in will lower it on friday if it does not sell

Know what I want for it any more is a bonus.
