Over the summer I had a journey to the side of the road and kerbed both nearside wheels and so have been looking for a replacement set.
Desperate not to be cliché (a “theme” I’ve tried to keep) I wanted to avoid the Softstars – no offence intended to those who have them, they work more often than not, but I didn’t fancy them for me.
So, after many searches I found a set going on eBay thru Martin Rumble (Hinckley Main dealer) after winning the auction it turned out they had made and error and never had the wheels to sell!
Further searching found an eBay auction that had expired, second hand by in true A1 condition. Saving £60 on the MartinRumble price I went to collect them (Stoke) from a J Holdcroft. Not sure if any of you know him, through our communication it became very clear he knows a lot about Vauxhalls. These wheels came off a 2.0 16V Nova, he also had a Corsa and smart looking Corsa Van.
Anyway after searching for tyres it became clear there are two clear favourite choices, Goodyear Eagle F1 and Uniroyal Rainsports. After deciding to go for Goodyear I picked up the phone, prices ranged between £59-90
However one supplier suggested the Uniroyals offered at £45 so I went with those, decent saving for a highly recommended tyre! Their fitted and the wheel are on!
Enjoy these photos!
And yes I know the next thing that is needed is lowering….come the summer it IS planned!

more photos in garage
Oh if anyone wants my old alloys (see garage) standard Vauxhall 3 spoke, they have FireStone F590 with loads of tred. Feel free to make an offer (165/65/R14), the other two wheels wont pass an MOT so wont sell but the tyres are to be sold. I’m hoping to set up an eBay auction after xmas
