Hi all,
Those of you who have read my WIP thread will know im in the process of building a Corsa Turbo. The time has come to start thinking about intercooler options.
At first I was just thinking of a subtle cooler that sits behind the front bumper. It would be narrow but long to fill the gap at the bottom.
But now im having second thoughts after seeing some Corsa Turbo's with big cutouts in the bumpers and small square numberplates at the side.
Here is a pic of the car with the bumper im going to be using.

Any ideas? Or pics of other Corsa front ends with intercoolers in this type of bumper....
Cheers
Neil

It's not really a stying part is it. It's a functional part of the engine. Get one that works right for the application.

yes, you want to base it around its function other than what it will look like

intercooler has to have the correct capacity otherwise youl just get a pressure drop across the system and make it worse.
I hate it when people think the bigger the intercooler the better

Yes I know I don't want a huge Cooler, but instead of having a narrow / long one (which is what i'd have to have at the bottom of the bumper if I didn't cut it overwise I wouldn't be getting a nice airflow through all of it) I was thinking maybe one that was shorter but taller and relocating the numberplate.
I was thinking both options will have roughly the same capacity just give different looks to the car....
So you think I should go for the subtle option and leave the front end looking as it is?

it depends, you want something that works regardless of what it looks like

Yes,
But......
A custom slim version will be much more expensive that an "off the shelf" universal one.... or say an EVO 5 Cooler which seems to be a popular choice.
Bearing in mind the cars going to be running a 2.0 8v engine with 20PSi boost on a T34 what would most people reckon would be the ideal capacity cooler??? Any ideas? because I haven't

Thats the sort of thing, but on the offside end i'd need the outlet to be vertical (As my engines an 8v and thats the way i'd be routing the pipes.
Same as this

Hence why I think i'd have to get a custom one made.

The best and easiest to fit to a Corsa is the Frontera 2.8 intercooler. If the outlets are in the wrong place thats when the headache starts, as I learnt when doing my Corsa LET.
My mate Col stuck to Frontera one (pics below) and it was piece of piss fitting it, and is good enough for the power you will be running. It fitted perfect behind his GSI front bumper.

Get one custom made, not much more than a pre done jobbie...
Go to Pace. You send them a template/design and they will ahve it built and to your door within 2 weeks. Great service.
We had a custom one made which cost about £350 i think... Superb build and quality though.
Can go any size/design you want then.
