why?? it's turbo charged, i got approximately 50bhp from it.
But the 130bhp is the same as the 170bhp engine, then they just go a bit further with it.

Yes. 180bhp is achievable from a plug and play box, fitted by the owner, so I dare say a bit more tinkering of one of those maps, 197 is about right.
The box sold to the public will be slightly under-stressed, so it doesn't break so quickly.
Are you doubting chipped-uk again Dave?

01- PASSAT TDI (130 PD) £399 BHP 180 TORQUE 280
Thats what is claimed, so on different rolloers / dirrent engines i think 197bhp is achieveable.
go to http://www.bigboystoys-uk.com/ then revo technik.

just reading about some remapping software I might buy and 99% of companies claim the usually get 180-185bhp and 300ft/lb MAX from even custom written software. a 'certain' company claim to get 197bhp and 365 ft/lb from a flash remap.

this same company recently had a lot of bad things written about them by some industry pros.
they sent a young lad with a car with 114bhp (proven on 3 different rolling roads) there for a remap. it made 116 on the 'before' run. it then made 142bhp after the remap.
taken back to the same 3 other rolling roads it was tested on previously it made 121 bhp. so a gain of 7 bhp after the remap.
strange how the company that remapped it made it gain 28 bhp
high gains make smiley customers

I saw that quote (the 197/365 one) from a 'certain' company, on a 'certain' website...
But still, you're fighting a loosing battle, and it looks VERY bad if you go round slagging off all the other tuners

not slagging anyone off. I havnt mentioned any names.
same company gained 17bhp on a customers car after they got them to fit an air filter in their golf 130td.
when are people going to learn

CA Automotive can do something fancy with a E90 320d of similar gains I believe.
EDIT: Just checked their site: 163 -> 196 on the 320d, 231 -> 271 on the 330d. I'm sure you could do similar stuff to a Golf.

well the standard clutch couldn't take 366ft/lb.
maybe 197bhp is a bit optimistic, i knew it was near there!!!

quite optimistic figures though, 210bhp out of a generic map on a 1.8t 150 is about 10bhp to much, i've seen them produve 195bhp.
