... to do an engine conversion; either C20XE/ C16XE in a weekend; out with the old and in with the new in under 48 hours?

Is it possible basically to do it and have few or no teething problems?

The longest I can go without my car atm is 48 hrs so am weighing up my options

I'm pretty sure Beardy does it in a weekend, if not less.

yes. Providing you have everything required with the correct tools and expertise.

Saying that, you need to compensate for the un-expected.

yeah, if you've done it before, and you have no problems at all.

if you worked 48 hours straight, it'd be easy, but you'll have about 16 hours at the most, so unless you've done it before, lots, you've not got much chance tbh.

I have on hand engine hoist and all the tools I should need - just got to clear space in the garage and make a decision

Whats worth doing well in advance of the actual swap to ensure a smooth changeover?

EDIT: I helped change over a Fiesta Zetec S to a Puma egine not long ago and put an R1 engine in a Reliant Rialto

yes, if you have all the tools you need and all the parts and spares to hand 2 days is simple.

with 2 of you doing it in a workshop it can be done in 1 long day

I could do the rebuild sepearately - its more about the time to actually physically take out one engine and put in the other and get it running correctly all before work on Monday morning!

so long as the engine was all ready to go; ie/ all rebuilt and clean could it be fitted quickly enough?

If everything is planned, all parts are ready etc then can be done in 24hours.

You can get the engine out of a Corsa in about 2 hours on your own...

So long as you have a good engine, the right know how and enough tools then you can do it in about 2 days without any practice.

removal/fitting is easy, wiring is the hardest part, unless its plug and play, like a 1.6.

Did anyone else notice the mention of an engine change, ZetecS to Puma? Was it really worth 100cc's? Unless it was the Ford Racing Puma, then again, I have no idea of that engine size.
