Dug out the V5, MoT and Insurance documents.

Got to the post office with the cash in my hand (which was £8 more than I expected it to be )

Then the woman told me that my insurance letter was invalid, as the number plate didn't match.

So, I came home, rang Admiral, and told them, apparently, they had no details of the private plate being on the car, so I've technically had no insurance for about 2 months

I made the girl at Admiral check my details... There was a note on my policy telling them to change the details, but no-one had done it

Now I have to wait 5 days for the new insurance certificate to come through, before I can tax my car, as the DVLA site is lame, and won't let me do it

So I'm stuck without a car for a week, and it's all Admirals fault

Ouch - does that mean you'll also lose a month too as when you next tax it it'll be December?

I doubt they would Jon, I'll try them tomorrow, but I can't see them agreeing to that.

Mark, it's a major problem, I can't drive my car for until it's sorted

I'll have to hassle them the Corb.

I might get them to fax a copy to somewhere, so I can get it sorted quicker.

I was under the impression that the DVLA computer would notify the insurance company as well as me doing it, to remind them

Post Office wont take a fax copy, so that'll be a waste of your time trying to do that. Admiral may well try to do it and tell you that it can be taxed with a fax, but they're lying.

11 miles? at the leisurely pace of around 3mph you could get there in less 4 hours, or alternatively hitchhike

I went to tax my car over the summer, dug out an insurance document that looked about right. My V5 said V575GDP and the insruance document said V307FUF. Just another gentle reminder as to how shit that little 1.0 was Oh well, meant I got to borrow an A4 soft top for a few days
