took the car in to get rolling roaded and setup today. not shock that something was broken. the coolant temprature sensor was only reading 16 degrees when the engine temp was at 90. so basically the car chucks in fuel as it thinks it is cold all the time. one i get the new sensor fitted it is getting fully remapped.

anyway i still got it rolling roaded. the guy only took it to 7000 revs as i havent fitted the arp rod bolts and it started to run lean.

so the figures are 161bhp and 124 ft.lb

i didnt expect this much but the guy at wallace thinks its good for around 170 once its all mapped properly

thats the only problem with the 16xe's, the torque never seems to go above 130lb/ft

but still, the numbers are great

I want it

aslong as the unichip is mapped to recognise the superchip being there then its fine. A.K done this to his 1.4 sport about 4 years ago. i was also told that it wouldnt work by someone on here, but was later corrected by Adam

Yes but the c20xe has 153 lb ft of torque and makes peak power around 5400 rpm!

His 1.6 will have far less torque and make peak power around 6.5 -7k!

exellent figures but I think they are a bit optimistic, so as with all bhp threads, its down to the rollers. for an example:

my engine which is the same as yours but with the addition of verniers, custom management, throttle bodies, competition exhaust, set up by Noble Motorsport, total of 9 hours of mapping and cam timing, only makes 163 bhp@7000 rpm and 123lb/ft at 7000 rpm.

im not disputing that thats what the rollers said, and I am behind you 100% with tuning the 1.6 rather than dumping an old XE in it (I remeber the phonecalls when you were fitting the cams ) and all my old bits are on your engine as well!

but on a different dayon rollers that arent as optimistic with your spec i would say 150 bhp is about the max it will make, get some verniers on there and get some more mapping and I know that 160 is achieavable, just not on standard cam timing with a 7k limit.

few points

superchip and unichp I was also running together on a x14xe 4 years ago, main benefit was the raised rev limit on the superchip which is not so eaisly achievable with a unichip

has this not no started making more power than before + now has a bad cts how???

and im also wating for steves thoughts on the BHP there is a reason why people find those sort of figures hard to believe.... surely it cant be that easy

awaits steve

dude..... i had the unichip and superchip on my x14 about 6 - 7 years ago i think

I was still living in Aberdeen, and in 3rd year at Uni when it happened... so..

5 years in Ed, 1 year of uni = 6 years! ooof

Nice figures, be interesting to see the curves. Was it Russ that mapped it?
