I have been guilty of it in the past but since i have been driving i have started using them as i relise how hard it is to see them.
Were you on a main road?

A simple piece or reflective strip that can probably be bought for less than £1 for the cyclist.

reflective strip is no good unless its illuminated at the correct angle, not side on etc

yeh i wouldnt bother with high-vis jackets, i was driving the other night and theres a guy riding on the other side of the road and i could see him from a distance but just blacked out and only saw the reflectors etc at the last min. i always get idiots in cars trying to over take me thinking they are cool. one day they will hit some 1 riding the oposite side of the road and kill them, i did used to ride a bike when i was younger with out lights.. if i did it now i would terrified, i hate cycling on the road now anyways. im just glad i dont have to lol
