having some trouble with advice for what oil to use in the ek9 when i get it.

importer says use 10w40 semi synthetic
local honda guru says the same.
another honda guy says 10w40 fully synthetic.
millers oils recommends 5w40 fully synthetic.
and a search on the net revealed someone saying 10w40 fully synthetic!!!

whats the manufactuers recommendations, anyone know?

i've already bought 5w40 fully synthetic...what should i do, help!

How many miles has it done?

Basically, the older the engine is, the better it is to use part synthetic oil, but most tuned engines (impreza wrx, m3 etc) used fully synthetic oil with a low viscosity, like the 5w40.

I would use fully synthetic, but not sure on the weight of it.

what i'm leaning towards...i think its what the honda recommendation is.

5w40 fully synthetic is the new type r oil though, but the 1.8 dc2 teg is 10w40 semi, think it must be 10w40 semi.

The honda engines burn plenty of oil anyway, it wont be long before you have gone through 6 litres

I put 10w40 in a civic type yesterday and also we run the s2k on that as well
