Makes me laugh , police knock people who modify cars yet the police in my area can tune there patrol cars up
I used to get shit all the time for my full HKS system on the RX
Taken from a local Jap Site
quote:
Had to colloct this the other day from the Police Workshops to tint with Security Glass, as they have been having problems with Pikeys putting golf clubs an balls, bats and bars an explosives through patrol vehciles lately...
This was a Machine, HKS Piggy back ECU, Hybrid Turbo, Full HKS Exhaust, Semi Slicks, Massive Brembo, Bigger Intercooler, Samco'd up, and a Water Cooling Spray for the cooler, HKS Induction.. FAT FAT FAT CAR..
Pics Below..

I don't think its a case of 'being allowed to modify their cars'
They clearly need quicker cars to keep up with the modern criminal.

I don't think theres a need for them to have an Evo, as I was told by one police officer once who had pulled me over in my MR2 Turbo that "my car may be fast, but thiers don't hang around either" at which point he looked back at what was quite obviously a standard issue 1.4 diesel Astra.

So it has all that fitted, yet we don't see a single piece of evidence in the photo's to show it?
And it has semi slicks. So its a police car that can only be used in the dry? Give me strength.

The police have been tuning cars for years
my dads friend has the contract for the metropolitan police
all the T5 volvos they have are chipped, uprated exhausts etc
The scoobies and evo's are all the same, they have been altering them for the past 15 years or so

Is there any way of knowing if the T5 my dad bought from the police force is tuned in any way?

Dazzer - depends on the force, area etc traffic cops im unsure on
tom - Drive the fucker and compare it to another one!
Quick story - another of dads mate bought an omega v6 off the essex police. Was chipped and cammed! had the car 6 months then he got a call from them saying that i beleive the car you own is a stolen one. Turns out they didnt have the correct documents for it when they sold it or something, when he said that he bought it from them they rather sheepishly apologised in writing!

I hope they got a bigger petrol tank too - EVO's are renowned for having really small petrol tanks.
I'd speed to get a ride in it back to the police station though
Ermmmmm:

I didn't take that picture but actually recognise it as being on Regent's Street during some festival thing. Is a genuine Lambo but not in service.

TBH, it doesnt bother me that traffic cops have decent cars.
What really pisses me off though, is the amount of BMWs, Range Rovers and stuff. They really are a waste of money IMO

Range Rovers fair enough for off-roading and clearing accidents, moving lorrys etc, even though that is what the Highways Agency Patrol is for now.
BMW's vs Volvo? No real difference in price or performance or size. Bedfordshire police seem to use a lot of Vauxhall Vectra estates.
I saw a Rover 25 panda car once (not in Bedfordshire though). MUST have got it on the cheap.
