Basically I know I can get at least double what I paid for my S1 now, and my area seems to be lacking so much for someone of my position who wants to enter in motorsport, so im starting to think it might not be such a good idea for someone of my position and on such an income. I have two options...
Either sell the s1, get some money together and buy an s2 rallye. Use it only on track days, then 16v it and do some serious mods next may when I get my no claims through.
Dont give up, keep the S1 and keep modifying it for road rallying still using it as a run around. I would buy a second car but dont have space.

Track days? About £100 + petrol + tyres + brakes + the cost of a rebuild if your engine decides to blow up as my s1 did

So who voted to keep the s1? I can see the advantages of selling. Very tempted.

Would it not be easier to buy a GTi then strip it if you using it for track days???

103k miles though but got a good spec. Thats the one I told you about earlier robin. £2.5k mileage isnt a big put off, especially if a 16v goes in in a few months.

if its been looked after (oil changes, new gaskets and belts etc) I wouldnt worry.
like you say, if you're planning for a valver anyway, its not big deal.

My suggestion would be dont waste any modifying an old car.
However, as thats not one of the choices, id say do whatever will cost you the least amount of money.
