ok ive got a new HD tv but am i right in thinking you need to buy another cable with a HDmi adapter to run the xbox it HD?

because im using the rca type plugs but it wont allow me to select hd it says its the wrong connection?

you can use a number of connectors. The standard cable you get with the core pack will not carry an HD signal. You can use the following cables/connections:

HDMI
VGA
Component

on second thoughts, I don't think there is an HDMI cable available for the 360. I think they may be releasing one though.

Are you sure that's all the connections there are? Can you check?

Right, from what I can gather, MS are realeasing an HDMI cable to go with their new HD DVD player.

For now, to get HD out of your 360 you'll need to hook it up via a component cable or VGA.

yea ya know the RCA type leads you get with the consol? i can plug all of them in. so ive got the green/blue/red connectors + the sounds rca's ill try find a google image

that's component mate and you can get HD using that. That's what I use

Just make sure you don't confuse the red sound with the red video

ok im using them but! wen u go to screen options on the actual xbox it says its unable to produce an HD connection using this connection and goes back to normal..

there's also a little switch on the cable. You need to make sure this is switched to 'HD'

no. The TV will have the HDMI connection as an input.

no probs Andy, plenty of people overlook the switch

If you go into the video options now you should be able to change the HD resolution. 480/720/1080 etc...
