People will be allowed to murder other people next and that'll be just fine with the police

I'm going to start stealing to pay for my insurance/road tax/running costs of my car, then I might get that free from the government too.

Seems like the right thing to do IMO.
Would stop all the addicts from robbing old biddys and houses.
It is a shame though, the money could be spent elsewhere. You could hire a nurse for 12K per year.

Yeah it is a shame, but it real world terms it might actually work, like in the case of Switzerland. Heroin is a terrible drug, but i do agree it is hard to sypmathise with people who are stupid enough to try it in the first place, it's in a different league to other 'recreational' drugs (and no i;m not sayin they should all go out and get coke habbits either )

They don't provide anything to society economically or socially so why do we need them? They no longer value their lifes...

make it available and lace it with a poison to get rid of them.
Ship them to a remote island with a limited supply and let them kill each other fighting over it.
Lock them up and give them fuck all.

Then they'd just sue the Prison Service for making them go cold turkey, and the Home Office would settle.

I'm liking the Battle Royale scenario, the government could make a fortune putting it on pay per view

Id take their rights away from them once they are locked up. They get too much stuff whilst locked up anyway and it just isnt a deterrant anymore. Bring back just having a box room and a yard to work out in.
My GF's cousin works at the prison in Preston, and they are having to spend just over 3m making the windows in the cells something like 10cm bigger as its against some law

I read int he paper last week that some lags at a prison down south were feeling cloustraphobic because of the grey fences outside.
Taxpayers paid for them to be painted green.

We already feed addicts with methadone and have needle exchanges at participating pharmacys.
Its a good idea in a way but a bad idea in another. It means we are promoting drug use.
You would be supprised in some high use drug areas how few people are acctually in methadone.
I dont think offering heroin would make that much of a difference.

It could only make matters worse.....where is the incentive to kick the addiction if you are given gear for free?
Also its been quoted in the press its going to cost £12k per annum per junkie...
I would say that giving that amount away would simply escalate the addiction. Whilst i appreciate it wont be £12k's worth of smack, I can easily imagine that the users will simply use up their allowance then start robbing again to supplement their 'habit'
A bad idea all around if you ask me

I used to work at the PPA (prescription pricing authority) when I was at college and used to get all the druggies pink or blue prescriptions through for drug substitutes. Some places hardly had any, but others had fucking loads (nearly as many as normal ones which is a piss take) and must already cost this country a fortune!
