No charges, will take 3 - 5 days

It varies between banks
£15-30
You can get different types too

To get it done in the same day, you must have instructed your bank to do it before 1pm usually
You can also get an Express Telegraphic Transfer, which means that it should be in the other account within half an hour

if you withdraw cash from your account then pay it in over the counter in his bank then it will be instant

Well that was stupid

Went to Bank of Scotland to be told it would take 5-7 working days to do. Easiest way is to withdraw the money then go to a Halifax branch and deposit it in said account

Most BACS payments will clear in 3 working days and there generally wont be a charge. CHAPS payments will hit same day so long as they are processed before 3pm and the usual chrge is £20-£30
