I know that they are not good but i am wondering if they would be any worse than what i am paying at the moment; i know the service intervals are short but are the servicing prices high?

Anyone know

what are you paying now

Services - depends whats needing 'serviced'

Change the oil/filters/plugs yourself and save a fortune.

We service ours every 3k or so.

They'll be hard on tyres, and bush's etc too

i hate folk that ask about MPG. If you have to ask about that buy a bloody diesel or 1.0

If you service yourself budget about 50-60 for oil
50 for plugs if you want daft fancy iridium ones :/

Oil filter/Air filter are same as normal... get both easily under a tenner.

Brake pads etc all depend how how you drive the car, and if you want standard.

No one can really give you a clear cut answer. You'll know best how a car of yours needs serviced. I'd say add a bit more onto what ever you are paying now.

They dont cost the earth to run. Most horror stories you here are from folk moving from a 1.0 corsa to an Impreza etc.

my evo 7 needs oil and filter change every 3500 miles wghich cotst me about £50 for materials,

needs servicing every 8000 miles (just had a 45k service which includes alal vbelts and pulleys) this would of been £702 plus vat at mitsubuishi..i bought parts and it cost me about £300

general wear and tear is what costs my handbrake went last week £212 for one
Rear wheel bearing is being done as we speak that is £156 pus vat

the only good thing for me is i don't need to pay labour

day to day running costs are no more that my vec gsi was as it does about 200 miles on £40 its parts that cost more as not a lot of places do aftermarket stuff

i sounf like i'm moaning but i'm not its worth every single penny

Yeh but that sounds no worse than the Beemer; £2,000 fitted for a new vanos which lasts about 50k!

MPG dosnt bother me; just hear horror stories about servicing but dosnt sound any worse than the BMW tbh.

Just lookin at Evo VIII GSR at the mo and they seem value for money IMO

Evos up to 6 will require YAW doing an what not, Gearboxes are meant to be an expensive job (budget 2K)

Used to have a mate work in a Mitsu dealership and he said they did about 5 gearboxes a week on Evos

My brothers just about to replace his second box in his ATR and that's nearly £900 a go which i thought was bad (got the lsd etc), £2k for an evo is worse

Ow bugger; maybe a P1 might be worth a look into a bit further!!

I know when the box went on my ATR it was expensive!! But with any car of that money and power nothing is going to be cheap!

You will also need to take into consideration age, mileage and how well the car has been looked after.

My old Evo VI Makinen cost a fortune to run. My 350z is like running a Corsa compaired to it.

Service every 4500 miles (£350 average reall), 16mpg, tyres lasting 5-6000 miles, brakes are crap so you need AP's (£1500 for the fronts), clutch is weak, uprated one is circa 1k fitted. List goes on. Gearboxes are strong

Edit to say I'm buying an E46 M3 and the running costs seem angelic
