Looking for a winter car to save using my astra vxr through winter as much and also generally just keep the milage down a bit on the vxr. My dads work took this as a trade in but its developed an engine fault, they say its siezed so needs a new engine which I can get for £115 from local breakers but I need to have a look at it first. Its done 48k and is mot'd till august next year. Its quite clean with good tyres and looks clean underneath but need to have a good look once its on the ramps. What do you think its worth presuming it does need a new engine. Its a 1.6 zetec finesse, 'S' reg with electric windows, cd player, air con. Also clean inside.

Mate at work is trying to sell his, exactly the same, but with Si alloys, and 87k, just sorting few bits and it will have a full MOT, think he wants about 600-700 for it.

With 80k miles it's worth £1,120 private - I guess taking into consideration of the mileage difference and new engine, £1,100 sounds about right - bargain as it's a lot of car theoretically speaking.
Oh, "worth buying?" no, not when you have a VXR for christs sake. You can have my Corsa B for the winter whilst I have your VXR if you want? I promise I'll look after it...
