Kolo Toure.

Seriously though.

Convince me otherwise. He's quick, reads the game well, strong, often makes fantastic last man challanges and to quote King Andy Gray....'I wouldnt want anyone else other than Toure on my team in those situations'.

To mention them in the same breath is laughable tbh, John Terry will go down as one of the greats of the Premiership, i doubt i'll remember Toure's name in ten years time.

Toure is easily on a par with any defender in the world, any!!

Anybody who watches him for an entire game will see how quality he is!!

His only weakness really is not scoring enough!

Wasn't shown on TV but the other weke at the Everton game... AJ 1on1 with Toure an Toure pushes him back into his own half... dave17, AndyW and others there will testify to his awesome defending at that moment!!!

Convince you otherwise?

Terry - Double Premiership winning Captain, League Cup winner, FA Cup winner, FA Community Shield winner, PFA Player of the Year (2004-05), 2005 UEFA Champions League Best Defender, FIFA World Cup squad of the tournament (2006), England Captain

Cannavaro - UEFA Cup winner, World Cup winning Captain, Coppa Italia winner, SuperCoppa Italiana winner, Italy Captain

No doubting Toure is good but the above two are the best in their positions in the world. Not that i'd expect you to agree, JT being Chelski and all that.

Toure has a lot of honours form his time at Arsenal as well... hes been there since 2001 so has at least 2 Prem titles, 3 FA Cup wins, a CL Final appearance etc

Yes all those trophies John Terry and Cannavaro have won are indeed very nice. But IMO winning trophies doesnt make you a better player as it were.

I could go on to say Gilberto has won a world cup a few league titles and FA cups and that he therefore is better than Ballack, Lampard. I dont think it works like that really tbh.

Theres a lot of great players that havent even played in world cups let alone won them that are better than players that have.

Arsenal

FA Cup Winner: 2003, 2005

FA Premiership Champions: 2003-04

Champions League Finalist: 2006

Like I said, I do rate him, but he isn't as good as Terry or Cannavaro.

How did this go so off topic

Terry is a good player, great player no doubt about that, I hope he didn;t say that and I doubt it with the amount of black players around him and the fact the FA has put so much emphasis around kicking it out of the game this season and last.

Toure is good yes, he's not the england captain though nor is he racist (that I know of) so why are we talking about him, I don;t think anyone seriously thinks terry is shit.

I was saying to my dad last night that captain shouldnt necessarily be the best player but someone who is a good leader with a big heart and lots of passion.

John Terry is a good choice imo.

Silvestre had a shite season just gone, not seem him this season but suspect he's probably still playing average.

O'shea only plays cos' he sucks fergies cock and to keep the irish fans happy, brown wants to be rio and is basically never going to be, heinze is ok

I think against the VERY best strikers JT struggles - in the biggest games of his career thus far he hasnt delivered for England or Chelsea - one of the main reasons he hasnt won the C.L........yet - im not doubting he is brilliant defender though.
Cannavaro is the best CB in the world - Puyol not far off either

imho I think Toure is as good as Terry but doesn't get as much media attention. He's lightning quick, brave, strong, reads the play brilliantly and often makes the last ditch challenge that could make or break a game.
