Disagree front looks horrible on them, sure you can get led clusters for older ones.

Also surely insurance aint gonna be stupid amounts more for an m3?!

Any luck yet nick?

I looked at a few earlier this year. The 330 performance is outstanding. 260bhp iirc, and the torque wasnt shy either.

I drove both the manual and tiptronic box. I would have chosen the manual but I was surprised at how good the tip box was.

Colour wise, silver metallic, silver leather and blue roof would have been my choice.

Make sure the service book is stamped up. Try and get one with low miles.

Prices have been really steady for ages now.

IMO lights front lights on facelift are better. If you also go for a facelift it will hold its value better than really early Y-reg cars what with the new Coupe out.

Pups has an M3 and running costs are extremely high. Many insureres will aslo require tracker which is something to think about, an extra £150/year! The suspension is so tight on an M3 that rear springs don't last too long. Ours has covered about 24,000miles and already both rear springs have just broken, in the sprace of the week. £800 repair each IIRC (could be less) including labour at BMW dealer.

Nappa leather is nice but watch out for it on older cars with high mileage, it does tend to wear quicker. The standard leather which is more 'textured' will last longer, especially if you're going to be in and out all day.

Expect to pay a premium for convertible over the standard Coupe so ask yourself if you do really need softtop. It'll eat into boot space I'm sure too so subs could be out of the question?

You could go for a hardtop 330Ci and get M3 kit on it including wings with vents, custom quad exhaust etc. They are in BMW Mag for about £2000 fitted and painted by some companies.

All standard E46's but with kit - how can you tell the difference? No power bulge in the bonnet!
