I've seen a black one round the town where I live. Completely original as far as I know, especially as some middle-aged mid-life-crisis geeza drives it. It does have red brake callipers though?!
Just wondered what opinions are of it? Is it overpowered for the 'factory' standard set-up or just as fast as the 2.0 conversions most do with their B?!

The 1.8's have red calipers on from the factory.
They are'nt too bad, not lightening fast but quick enough. I think a 2.0 B would be faster than one, but they are alot more refined than the B.
My sister has one and its not a bad little car.

My Mum is 57 and she drives one because it's 'sporty'

It's the best out of the C's to drive, and goes well, but it's not cool because of my first sentence

In reply to Joe; Robin got there too quick with a post
Can I marry your sister? You have some real nice cars - saw an A3 very very similar to yours in Hitchin the other day, was going to say your right rear brake light is out, but noticed you lived nowhere near here haha is yours a real S3 as your Garage says 1.8T?!
I'd like to drive a 1.8 SRi and would imagine it'd be really refined. I guess it could have been a lot better if it had a turbo or something slapped on it - although it was the time before every 'sporty'/'racing' variant had to have a turbo.

Ahhh, never realised, thought it was a 3.2 Quattro - would explain why the latest one is 5 cylinder which I initially thought was strange.
Slightly off topic but don't want to make another one as I've made quite enough today - I'd love a Meriva VXR just to be different! Plus it be handy for mountain biking.

Yeah, I knew that, by 3.2 Quattro just meant the V6 engine found in the pukka TT. Never really been into Audi's as you can probably tell!

Oh and as for the 1.8 SRi, i like them.
Insurance friendly, nice to look at, come with enough toys, and not the slowest thing around, just adequate.
