Would have thought so, as its taking in more air than it should be.
Ive got a pipercross on my 1.4 16v Sport aswell, but mines off a MG ZR lol

Your AFM is a thin piece of wire that sits in the inlet pipework just after the airbox. Basically it measures the volume of air thats passing it and fuels accordingly. Fitting an induction kit can damage it in a few ways - Extra heat, oil from the induction kit, extra particles hitting cos the filtration isnt as good.
Those three things are quite extreme tho and most people run induction kits without a problem!

It could damage it but mine never did in the time I owned it...thats been on a corsa gsi, mr2 & a scooby....not a problem with any of them.

Mass air flow sensor/metre
i had to pay over 100 for vauxhall to fit a new one... my engine management light came on and the car couldnt idle right.

i think it broke mine i got 1 an cleaned it an i think all the oil broke mine so i dont have 1 on nemore

Sorry Andy - I thought youd cleaned the MAF Sensor!!!!
Its the light oiled filters that are going to kill them if any! Best with a dry cotton one if you can!!!
