Unusual Thread for me
My dad is just finishing his dregree in Planetry Sciences, its his bday and obviously xmas in december and i've thought instead of buying him little bits i would combine the 2 and get him a telescope
but big problem, i know absolutely fk all about them.
He likes looking at the stars, mainly when the planets are visable so would like a telescope capable of somthing like that, and a good one.
Would like around 100 - 150, £200 if its worth the money, or second hand if i have to, to get him one decent enough for what he would use it for
Help really appreciated, i've seen a few on ebay but the descriptions mean nothing to me and dont wanna end up buying one for the wrong purpose (if thats possible, im not sure)
Thanks

I know it won't be a surprise for him but as you know nothing about what kind of telescope he would want the best bet is to speak to him about it, he might want some uber expensive one which you could put money towards - you'll both feel silly if you get him one thinking it's just what he wants but deep down he wished he'd of got something else.
IMO surprises at Xmas are nice and all that but tend to be more for kids if you get what I mean, i think the thought of you wanting to get him what he really wants is better
