I've been skiing a few times
Don't pay for the missus, it will cost an absolute fortune! You will need to pay for:
Flights
Place to stay (if you go wth mates rent a chalet)
Food and drink
Hire car or transport to the mountains
Ski rental
Lessons
Lift pass
You will need to buy the right clothing too, expecially if you are going in Feb as it will be about -10 or -20...

you can get some package deals which will include lift pass and ski hire....
I've been to a few places in France and Italy and would recommend either of them.
Skiing is good in Norway too....but it's damn expensive

Was excellent.
I was with school when I went so were about 40 of us causing trouble, waged war against the German school who were also there and ambushed them off the balconies with snow balls most days

If you have never ski'd before I would recomend you have a couple of lessons before. For £55 you can have a 3 hour fast track lesson at MK Snowdome. After 2 of those you should be able to ski quite well which means that when you go out to the mountains you will see more of what you went there for - but still have a few more lessons when you are there. The instructor will be more of a guide than a coach so you will have a great time

Might wana do a lesson or two first aswell
Been before it's well good, probably cheapest way is to try and organise a group.
Get to tamworth snowdome if you can, closest thing to real skiing i've done in uk

Chamonix is hard for beginners. If you're going to go there make sure you have lessons before you go.
Morzine is more suited for beginners.
