This is to do with Perrys of Doncaster

Been down to Vauxhall today to look at Corsas, my mums after changing her car. Guy did the multi point check on my mums Saxo which is basically a visual check, quick test drive & then twizzle all the knobs & flick all the switches

They made us a deal up & we didn't think it was good enough. Left the showroom

On the way back its more or less straight onto a 60 road. Going along doing 60 & all of a sudden the bonnet comes flying up Windscreen, bonnet & roof are all severely fooked

Now during the check he pulled the lever for the bonnet, obviously not put it down right after doing so.

Are they responsible? Should they be paying for the damage?

Going back down there this afternoon to try & sort it out

i would say not, unless you can prove they opened the bonnet.

But on the other hand they could say you did it as they offered you a shit deal

His check sheet should say if the bonnet open lever worked or not

He was the last one to drive it

Deal wasn't crap, just wasn't good enough to say yes there & then

If they were decent people they will accept and pay for repairs but I reckon they will say prove it

they will still bitch about it unless you were to have any solid proof that he did infact pull the lever for the bonnet release

i would say yes they are legally responsible for what happened, if you took your car in for a tyre change and they didnt tighten the wheel bolts up then they would be liable then, same difference

tricky situation.

Go back and ask for the inspection sheet for the checks they carried out. When you have a copy, then explain. At least you or your mum will be a witness for each other or whoever saw the incident.

Maybe phone your insurance and explain what happended

As abdus said ask for the check sheet first otherwise it could get changed or mislaid .etc then go from there

If they don't offer to fix it, drive the Saxo through the fucking showroom window and up his arse.

Guy who served us was spot on, think he just made a genuine mistake. Been back in & explained whats happened & by the sound sof it they're getting their own bodyshop to do the repair. He needs to talk it over with his boss first

Problem is my mum was wanting to change her car, not wait for it to be fixed & then shop about

i would go for the deal personally, or agree to meet in the middle

it will be much muc easier than getting it repiared then trying to sell it, as you cant guarentee work and how long it will take

The Saxo is worth about 1.5K, even though its in imaculate condition

It was only another few hundred to get a D sxi off the web but my mum doesn't like how big they are

<--- Not happy about that!

The SXI+ is 8.5 OTR
which is more than you paid for your cdti with extras

agree with steve, take it to small claims, and ask for a copy of the service sheet still if you dont have it.
