Hi all

I have lately been looking at working in the motherland.. NewZealand.

There are loads of jobs out there (www.seekit.co.nz)

I have emailed the company expressing interest in working in NZ. But TBH i dont know how you go about something like this ?

I was born out there so a work visa isnt an issue

Mate of mine who's working in dubai managed it by linking interviews in with a wedding trip he was on. Pretty good job though, not sure if you could do over phone or via video conference or something?

If you do it, make sure you get as many interviews as possible. If your cv is upto scratch and you come across ok, most will take you seriously given the fact you have travelled a pretty long for interviews

I've just came back from the UAE mate and I'll give you the following bits of advice from both my own experiences and my mates'.

Be sure to have a package sorted before you go. By this I mean a signed contract with what you get for working for the company. Most expats leave for pastures new with a housing allowance and/or already paid for accomodation and possible a car on top of your salary. Possible even a few weeks/months paid hotel accomodation til you find your own place.

Sign the contract and make sure once you get there you get what you have signed for.

As far as Interviews go, if you're not simply transferring within the same company they might have people from their company in or around the UK, and may meet you for an Interview in (possibly) London. If not, then phone or video interview.

Also make sure you sign for money, or an allowance for shipping to get all your stuff over to the other side of the globe.

I only ask cause I know alot of kiwi's come over here to take advantage of the exchange rate. For example a normal contractors job will net them in 40k whatever a year, they then take this money and go home and buy a house.

For exampel at the moment 40k GBP would get you 112,500 New zealand dollas.

So you could gathered aload of money here then fuck off there and live like a king for awhile. But it wont work on the way back.

My mate hasn't looked back, he pretty much swindled his job aswell. He's on about £35k tax free plus he gets car and housing allowance but he forgot to sign out of the uk and has a big tax bill iirc.

I might look into it

I love it when my boss has a meeting gets a buffet laid on.

But the past couple of times the fat bastards in the meeting have near enough eaten the lot so only been a few scraggly left overs for us!
