The cage i have brought doesnt have any diagonals and i want some as well as a bar for harnesses.

I can weld so thats not a prob but you need to shape the bars to fit the cage.

worth tackeling my self or taking to someone?

thats not the right was to do it tho is it?

Thought the right was was to "fishmouth" a bar onto a solid part not drill hole and slide in and weld????

no, you have to cut the profile of the bar you want to join it to from the end of the bar you want to join to it, if you use a hole cutter which is the right diameter, you can make the fishmouth

you need a Hole saw and pillar drill, Grinder with sanding disk on to reshape as some of the ones you need a hole saw will not do.
then if i was you make the pipes and get somone to TIG weld them as look tidyer than MIG

You don't use a hole cutter to fish mouth do you? I thought you used a belt sander with appropriate sized dies on the end to give you the right diameter. Thats how I have always done it, nice an accurate too.

Thats on a lathe though, I think it would go horribly wrong if you tried to do that on a pillar drill...
