Walking home from a night out last night down a busy main road on my own past a big white van parked up on the road, next thing showered in glass, smoke and debris, a car that must have been travelling at 60mph hit the van that I was next to and threw itself onto the pavement on the opposite side of the road. I ran over to the car and helped the lad out that was driving, his airbag had gone off and he had a lot of cuts to his neck, I dialled 999 and got police and ambulance. Had to give a statement and stuff, pretty scary shit considering I was no more than 2m in front of the van when it happened!
Another near death experience for me.

EDIT: Im very sure the lad that was driving was drunk too. He got breathalized but I didnt find out what had happened to him.

shit well done tiger for using your noggin and helping the lad. all too often you hear about people just walking away for fear of getting involved in a bad sitation.

wish i had done this. silly boy over took me smashed into a round about i stopped to help as the car landed on its roof and now im getting done for racing. even though i had sweet fuk all to do with it!

in these situations i thought it was best NOT to move the injured, for fear of spine, neck injuries e.t.c.

Depends, when you do first aid you are taught that if you can save the persons life then you should consider moving them....

as ed said, if its a matter of life or death, you must make the decision to move them to get them out of that situation. there have been a few court cases in the US where someone has administered first aid to a person in a life threatening situation, they lived, but were crippled from the waist down as a result. makes me sick that people take good samaritans to court because they saved their life

Oh dear, you have just shot yourself in the foot for doing the right thing. Expect more visits from the Police, more statements and probably a court apperance to give evidence.
If I were to witness another crash I won't be stopping and helping, as bad as that sounds its just not worth the hassle.
