Just been reading the latest issue of 'Track and Race cars' magazine.

http://www.trcmagazine.com/

And this months 'Engine Guide' is the X14XE and X16XE vauxhall engines. May make a good read for people who want to know how to get the best from their engines.

Talks about all the options, from camming, power boxes, tb's, ecu's, con-rods, pistons, exhausts, manifolds, even crank shafts and 'rear wheel drive applications'

It lists a selection of tuning packages that can be bought, from TB kits producing 164 bhp on a 1.6 16v. To some crazy kit that produces 241 bhp on a 1.6, including stuff like dry sump and 8 injectors!

Probably only if the engine is brand new and run with every SBD component available.

It's thier top end kit that costs £15k. It's a full race engine that needs to be rebuilt every time it's used too

Yeah, its also on the C16, not the X16. Think the V-max on the X16 is 240bhp odd figure.

As Edd says though, it won't last more than a few outings. Bit like the 300bhp odd kit for the 2.0 XE.

i know someone building that spec engine for a hell of a lot less.

will be uber special!

good feature in that mag, its the second time they have run it.

VXR, with the ammount of head work involved, it wont matter what engine you start with tbh!

with the right bottom end i cant see why it wont last, only issue will be the valve springs, and there are others out there that are more reliable and only single ones.

Im mearly quoting SBD themselves with regards to both engines, and I know their specs arn't the most reliable, but you can't quote something like that without some truth....

Also, SBD bought D5's old blown up engine specifically as it was a C16 not X16 as they wanted to do a new spec'd engine. We were under the impression they bought D5's lump to do this spec. A year later, 256bhp v-max was achieved.... They've not got that power from the X16 unit. Could even be Dons old engine used as thats what it was bought for, but cannot be sure.
