Not too much to update on mine as been away for a while. Tank supports made for either side and the back (the brown things in the first pic), these will be covered in some spare wood the same as the stand that I have.

Sand is in and Ive also brought the branches that will be going in the tank. I cut these from a tree at my parents about 18months ago and they have been sat outside since so wont pollute the tank. Also cleaned them with bleech to kill anything left on them.

Going to order my filter this week (Fluval FX5) and also some of the plants. Should be ready for the community fish in a few weeks and then the Piranha in about a month.

So how are other peoples tanks getting on?

depends what kind of fish your thinking of mixing. Some will be perfectly fine, while others would just kill whatever they are put with. Your best going down to your local fish/pet place and pick some out, they'll let you know if they can go together.

I cleaned mine out the other day. Looks a lot better. My plants have really taken now, and are growing really nice.

I think it's looking better than ever TBH.

And I bought another Silver shark to go with the loner.

Ok,

I went to Tenerife came back and all my fish had died (about £500's worth)

I think something got dropped into the tank (paint) but not sure.

Anyway, I took the opportunity even though I still had shrimp, star fish, snails, crabs and a mandarin to upgrade my tank by twice the size

Ive put £200's worth of live rock, t5 lights, skimmer etc etc. The new tank is cycling and it's looking awesome

My bedroom currently looks like an aquarium but I love it, although the skimmer is far too noisey!!

It's basically a huge sump, I just used all my existing stuff apart from lights and skimmer!

Went looking round the Aquatics centre yesterday and made me think I should get my finger out my arse and start mine off again.

So going to clean the tank out tonight then I can get going.

When I was at the aquatics place yesterday they had a really cool marine fish in. It was a dog face puffer fish. Really did look like it had a dogs face

You wouldn't need to know unless your into marine and using a fairly large tank. It takes a load of crap waste / bubbles and skims the tank giving you a mucky brown crappy liquid in a cup that you can pour away.

It helps bigtime and also helps even more if you have corals or ever get any problems (like i had when i went away)

More info go here mate >>here<<

All marine tanks have to have skimmers (atleast the larger ones anyway) so are fairly common.
