What is involved in reshelling a car?

Is it swapping all the parts from your old car onto another car and giving the new car the same reg details as the old one? Or am I totally barking up the wrong tree

don't have to use same reg, the idea is take all the running gear/mechanics from one shell and put into another shell, usually a newer/better condition one

Well, just half the time when people say they are re-shelling thier cars on these internet forums they just swap the seats and engines over.
