Thinking of doing it as a past time (and it'll annoy the neighbours), nothing serious, I just like to listen to my music and play air drums all the time and I'm very tempted to buy a kit and have a bash.

Please don't trash my thread butI won't hold my breath

if you're not serious about it for the moment then why not purchase one of those electronic drum thingies to get started? Less noise, less ££ and less setting up.

I play quite a bit, self taught too.

My advice would be to buy an electric kit for the house as you will make some serious noise with a normal kit.

I wouldnt buy one of those electric drum pads though as I think they are a waste of money are doesnt get you used to playing on a kit.

At least with an electric kit you can use it at home and also for gigs as it will have 2 outputs to hook up to the PA system.

If you need any info then give me a shout.

Best option with kits is to buy something half decent second hand, yhat way it'll hold its re-sale value Avoid anything like Pulse Percussion and something from the Far East

Depends on how much you've got to spend. Drums are expensive

The drummer in my band has a wicked Pork Pie kit from the states, he built the kit up then redressed it with green sparkle and it looks magic - worth about £4000 and sounds like every penny.

Our old drummer who now lives in the states has just bought a vintage Ludwig kit with a 28inch bassdrum, believe me, thats big. Looks the absolute bollox too.

My best mate is the drummer in a small band of him and his mates, but I also know Adam 'Atom' Willard and he's said he'll give me some pointers to help me out (he's a top top bloke btw!)

Nice, I need to upgrade my cymbals and heads.
The place I study at has A,Z and K customs, they sound nice, but are REALLY expensive!
