my gfs gettin a new phone contract and im getting an xbox 360 free with it, its the cheap-ass version tho, how much does it cost to upgrade to the full version

game saves too.
headset is only worth it if you want to go online, but even then you dont need it.
wireless controller, again, not needed, but quite useful.
HD is a must though.

you can save them if you buy the Hard Disk, or a Memory pack, which is about £25, and is like a memory card, playstation style

I have seen the HD cable go for as much as £40.
That was on ebay though...

If your getting it for nowt then surely you wont have a problem buying the HD and cable for a few quid

hard drive - is a must. saves your games/music and means you can play original xbox games if you wish
wireless controller - pretty cool but if youve got a standard wired one and can happily live with that, then dont waste your money
headset - only good if you plan to go online and abuse people 
HD cable - only worth getting if you have a HD (obviously!). can get them for about £15-£20 depending on what connections you got on your HDTV
