A lady from work was the owner of the first car, her handbag containing money and a mobile were next to the keys and left in the house.

All stolen with keys, obtained by burglary in the early hours:

06 Reg Focus ST - 1400 Miles on the clock
55 Reg Focus TDI (from the same house!)

55 Reg Impreza STI

BMW 3 Series

2 More burglarys but no keys were taken, one house had a TT outside the other a 5 Series BMW.

Sounds like a stolen to order if u ask me!

Seems to be the way theives are going these days.

Not even any good trying to hide them really cos some of these really nasty gangs will wake you up and make you tell them where the keys are if they cant find them

My neighbours Cossie got robbed a few years ago.

Took the window pane out of the kitchen to get in. Got his keys from his jacket pocket next to his bed.

Shocking what they do these days.

not really, just grab one of your kitchen knives and put it in his hand then ring the police. You'll get away with it being self defence then

I think you should have the right to defend your home and family to whatever means.

There will always be someone taking advantage of this though.

I think people become complacent, 'i'll just leave it on the drive 2night i'm at work early next day' etc, you dont think about what could happen!

I suppose your right as they go round looking for the cars to steal in advance of when they are going to steal them dont they?
So if they were driving round looking for potential cars and saw that barrier then yeah they probably would just carry on looking for a car that wasn't protected by a barrier

I suppose if you had one of those bollard thingies, then they'd just car jack you as soon as you pulled up, which is the other trick of their trade, altho now that you've pointed them out cosmo i may invest in one for my spot

my dad is looking at getting some for our drive as they arent allowed gates where they are. You can get ones that use a keycode on a pad in the house so no need for a key.

Its more a deterrant though than anything else, as if someone really wants your car they will ge tit somehow.
