Need to be logged in to see that thread.
£2k is about right if he's not bothered doing it right. If the paperwork isn't in order I wouldn't count on the mechnical work being either.

to be fair hes breaking the law. to even consider it is stupidity. get the paperwork sorted legally then yeah as long as the car is decent and insurance on a 2.0 is manageble then go fo it

not even worth risking it as as a 1.2 on the logbook, you have an accident your insurance is void end of!

If you buy it and ever turn up to a northeast meet in a 1.2 8v unregistered as a 2.0,ill report the car to police and dvla.
+ By then you should have wanted list for another 10000000000 cars

not if it's a 1.2 8v because it is in a lower road tax bracket!

There is no insurance as it's not a 1.2 8v
You're mate is a cock and so are you if you buy it and drive it illegally.

Well there would be insurance just it would be invalidated if they found out about the conversion. Probably not the best idea in the world, but it means you can drive around and you wont get pulled over if the police run your plates because it will say on their database you are insured. Providing the engine says "vauxhall" on it when you open the bonnet, I dont think a dumb ass copper is going to be any the wiser.
This is why i didnt put a C20XE in my corsa, couldnt afford the insurance, a necessary evil on an everyday car.
