Megane vs GTi vs VXR
that VXR was pretty shocking by the looks of it, even under the cool long arm of the Stig

Pre production model with standard spec suspension fitted.
Top gear where made aware, but ignored it.
I can confirm that a VXR DOES handle VERY well. A little skittish on the back end, but use the brakes right into the corners and you can use the "skittishness" to aid the back ends momentom around the corners.
Clarksons done a lot with cars, but he knows jack sh 1t.
JadeM, driven one? I'd agree with the usual VX poor handling from standard, but it DOES handle quite well. Better than any standard production car i've driven (FWD format) without a doubt.

Clarkson is a complete twat, the Ford loving moron. What ever he has to say about Vauxhalls ignore. Idiot.
Anyone seen the write up in Total Vauxhall about the Vectra VXR? Even they think there is something fishy going on at Top Gear, because there website rest drivers rated the Vectra VXR as awesome.

how fuckin stupid imo they deserve the bad press, even if its not justified. For sending a car that wasnt finished!

I dont believe it was tbh. I mean why send a dummy car to a TV show that tests the cars on a track???
It would be like [coughyeahright]England reaching the world cup final[/coughyeahright] & not sending out the 1st team

I can't remember the particulars, but im sure Vauxhall said no, and Top Gear Insisted on it.
VX didn't want complete bad press (as we all know what their like on TG for slatings..)
There are major reasons for it, its been discussed quite a few times, although i've never been to botherd to read it all as i know it handles ok.

Why would Vauxhall send a car out for a thrashing round a test track by JC, the man who speaks whatever he thinks, with the wrong suspension on it? If they want toplay that game, expect bad press.

Well if they didn't send a car out then they'd be turning away free advertising wouldn't there. As the saying goes there's no such thing as bad press.
