Right even though my car is off the road at the minute..... STILL!

After being badly let down by my so called mate that was rebuilding my engine, i have decided to sack him off and have ago myself! With a bit of help from the of old man (who actually was a mechanic be it a long time ago, so he is a bit old school) MIGWEB and scobby999 of here. Got it all stripped down now so i can get the helicoil done on the block so hopefully not too far away!!

I know its not much but i am quite happy with my progress, i do not even remotely do anything like this for a job, so for me i am quite happy with hopefully sorting my car out myself! but then again lets see how it ends up!

anyway..... my actual quetsion was, i had an exhuast made up at custom chrome and it does not have a cat on it! will it fail the MOT? is there any way round it bar buying a CAT?

what are my options?

cheers

Is it not dependant on the age of the car? i.e after a certain year will require a cat, older than a certain year it won't require a cat?

Goes by engine age if its older then the shell.

If the car it came from didnt need a CAT you need to prove this out with some sort of V5 or some shit.

If they cannot prove the age of the engine I believe they may do a basic test.

Failing that, find a friendly MOT tester.
