I am staying at my girlfriends house tonight and my dad has called me to ask me to go do some grain carting between our two farms. problem is that this involves reversin our 18 tonne grain trailer into the barn which i have never done before. not too scary is it. need to learn to reverse in about half an hour tomorrow. any tips would be greatly appreciated

When I used to move our manure into the composting heap we used a slightly smaller trailer. But believe it or not our big trailer was a bit easier to reverse than our mini trailer for our quad. Remember that you need to turn the opposite direction to which you want to turn, then the correct direction to continue the turn, then a bit more turn to straighten up. Go slowly too! Oh, if your tractor has a pedal for the throttle use that too and not the other one!

Just remember to steer the opposite way and its all about the swing of the trailer.

You will have to get used to seeing where the back of it is through the mirrors though.

Ours was an old X plate I think. Older than me at least The plate was on the roof and I drive it under a tree and ripped the plate off

Its not hard, its only practice. I'm not fantastic at it with trailors on but I'm OK if I've enough time and space to have a few goes.

It's 10x easier to reverse a trailer if you ensure that the vehicle/trailer are in a straight line to begin with. If you start reversing and it's got a kink, then you'll be correcting that rather than thinking about where you want to push it.

Also, whether its a twin wheeler or single wheeler will make a difference, along with where the axle(s) are. Axles right at the back mean it'll turn slower, axles in the middle will allow it to spin in its own length.

its a piece of pish, just do what corsa ash sed and line ur self up well before you reverse, just dont reverse too sharp or you will knacker your drawbar, lower link arms and maybe stretch your hydraulic hoses.
