hey,im pissed of with boyracers in saxos with silly jap bumpers beating me off the lights ive got a 98 r corsa sport 1.6 16v. Anyone know what would be the cheapest and easiest way to get around 130 bhp??..all thats been done is a drilled out airbox and a performance backbox..getting the centre silencer removed soon and having stainless centre section but leaving the cat on for mot purposes, also getting a k & n panel filter. Before anyone mentions throttle bodies i really dont wanna go down that road as i want a reliable car that doesnt drink petrol and wants setting up all the time
any ideas??
cheers

throttle bodies on a std engine will not compromise reliability and in most cases will be better on fuel consumption, once is set up its set up so no worries there... on a std 1.6 16v throttle bodies and good exhaust system should show around the 150bhp mark... quite a few ppl on here run throttle bodies so they should give more advise.. failing that go for an after market mantzel style inlet manifold, on a 1.6 of your spec it should show around the 130bhp mark maybe more.. chris

As said, bin the standard inlet manifold for something like a Manztel and that will free up a substantial amount of power. Fit a full stainless exhaust system and exhaust manifold too. Then think about a remap.

Just get a mantzel/dbilas/velos/lexmaul inlet manifold, that'll see off the vtr's no problem.

Vts's are a different matter though, you'd give it a good race however.

You could always do what i did when running a 1.6 strip the interior fit lightweight buckets, brakes, suspension, strut braces and decent tyres and they will not stand a chance

Buy a 2k, golf mk3 vr6, like the one I've just got shut of! Blow VTS's and Clio 172's away then. Proper bargain hatch-slayer
