iirc, when i went on holiday to Jersey, years ago, there was a Ferrari on the way back(i know where on about corsas) but they basically just got some wood and put it over the gap to make it easier to get on.

I used to work on a port as a loading officer, you have a couple of options you can use pieces of wood or if they are proffesional you have special mats which you place infront of the wheels which raises the car as you drive over the lip of the ships door or up any ramps
when you book in you should also be able to notify the company and they should then load you in a position where the car is least likely to ground, if you dont tell em on the day then they cant help you much but if you advise them upon loading then they have to sort you out
if you dont advise them and you damage your car they wont accept any liability, but if you damage your car and you have told them in advance then you stand a chance in claiming, Just thought i would mention the damage side cos shipping companies are tw@ts

I got a Protech manifold which hangs quite low and managed getting on the ferry twice last week. Just go nice and slow.
