was thinking a pre XE'd car... any kit... just to lob the engine in with minimum hassle.
Would mind a bike engined screamer though

aye, westfields and caterhams are expensive to start of with - usually start around 3-4k for something with a pinto engine. Though if you aren't worried about it being a Q plate, then for around 4-6k you can pick up decent westys/caterhams - leather interiors etc
If you're after something a bit cheaper, then Robin Hoods are pretty good - saw a cosworth Hood go for 5.3k a few months back on ebay, so they aren't expensive and for anything in the 8-10k region you can pick up 'busa/R1 weapons!

2 of my friends have both got fireblade engined westie's. They are awesome and sound pretty mad!! Both do high 12 second quater miles too, and they obviously handle a wee bit!
