so if i diconnect my battery for around an hour'ish, then connect it back up, start my car up & touch nothing for a few minutes.

yeh thts what your ment to do, although ther are some people on the board who say this is a myth. Cant do any harm anyway 
i always found it ran a little better after doin it.

Yep.
Vauxhalls have "self learning" ecu's if you disconnect the battery for an hour ish it will reset the ecu.

normally 30mins is fine..it should reset
