ive put a new headunit in my car (alpine cda 9856r) and hooked up my cd changer (sh634) but theres no sound coming from it

now the changer is working because its got power and you can select what disc/track you want to listen to

but all i get is the display counting up showing track number etc but no actual sound

anyone got any ideas?
