not sure if this is true but have been told this....
when you get told to put your head between your legs, this is so you die quicker when it crashes... (crush your kneck on the seat in front)
what are your thoughts, i think it a load of shit personally

This is what ive been told aswell...think about it, your in the brace position, then u hit the ground at 500mph, that little lap strap aint gonna hold much. Was told its so its a quick death...no suffering.
What a lovely subject for a sunday morning.

At the end of the day, brace or no brace, if a plane is coming down form 35000 feet. You are going to die.

i agree with you ed, does it matter if your sitting or standing or got your head between your legs! if your heading for the ground at that speed you've had it

not necessarily, its not the height that kills you its usually if they cant find a decent area to crash land (which lets face it, there arent many open areas free of obstacles)
a plane can glide and even if no engines are in operation can still be flown to a certain extent and be crash landed under a certain amount of control especially if you still have control over hydraulics

and the crash position is to protect your face and head from flying object, hand luggage etc.
Although there may be some truth if that if the crash was of lethal type, then it may be coincidence that this position will also kill you

its widely believed by conspiricists and people who have nothing better to do with their brains that the brace position is because of the reason mentioned above.
this is wrong, the brace position is the best proven way of reducing the chance of fatality through extreme g-shock forces. here is an example of the brace position theory working as it should http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavian_Airlines_Flight_751

lol they tested this myth on that dicovery show "myth busters", they proved people would sustain more damage without the braced position than with it.

I heard if you jump up at the moment of impact you'll survive and be able to walk away unscathed.
Samuel L Jackson told me so.

its only the same as them showing you what to do if the plane lands on water, no plane has ever landed on water and had survivors

i also heard that only reason your straped in is so they can identify you easier too when your dead with the seat numbers etc., as said whats that pissy little strap going to do at such high speeds, although i though its to stop everyone flying about the plane.

why would it matter where you were seated? they know who was on the plane, if everyone dies, they know who is dead
the only thing which isnt a myth, is the fact that the oxygen isnt there to help you breathe.
