in a queue of traffic going up to a round about, one lane, very narrow road traffic coming the other way. This brand new gixxer roars or more like buzzes up to me, so desperate to weave past the traffic even though there isnt any room. He is so close i keep thinking his exhaust is going to melt my wing mirror.

anyway i let him in otherwse the lorry coming the other way will probably make a pancake out of him and his power rangers outfit. he then gets stuck behind a woman in a micra, shes not doing anything wrong at all but he is pissed that he cant do is usual weave past anyone and everything. so he puts his bike in neutral and revs the living daylights out of whilst about 2 cm of her rear bumper. I spat my chewing gum out laughing, the sound was pathetic, like some geriatric wasps in a baked bean tin, even sounded worse then a CTR

no wonder so many bikers get killed imo, they are more preoccupied with weaving past the next car more then concentrating on what they are doing tbf.

Branding...

Are all modified car drivers boyracers and chavs???

You get good and bad riders. As a biker, you should always give the car in front the opportunity to cross lanes and shouldn't ride quicker than you can stop.

There are many bad riders, those that swereve between traffic like its a chicane, when theres no need. It makes bikers looks like tarmac terrorists.

90% of bike accidents are due to poor car driving skills though. Most people dont even look, but many that do only look, but don't actually see...

Unless you ride a bike though, its hard to explain and understand. Filtering is safe and legal, its only dangerous when you ride too quick or the drivers dont pay attention to what they are doing.

branding? i didnt say all bikers are like it.

just this one peenarse this morning, it amused me. filtering is one thing, swerving in and out because you have no patience is another.

agree with a lot of non tentative car drivers killing bikers but who the hell is going to look in all their mirrors every 5 seconds for a 'i cant be bothered to queue in traffic so ill swerve my way through biker', most people are looking in front so they dont rear end anyone.

No but that is not the cause of most accidents. Cars pulling out of side roads / junctions is the main cause.

Branding.....

Not all bikers are like that, none that i know certainly. Why put ourselves in danger when we're so open to risk...

You don't need to be looking in your mirror, but abiding by simple driving rules can prevent. I.e

MIRROR - signal - manouver

or as 95% of people do..

Manouver - indicate as halfway in next lane - then check mirrors...

On a bike, you learn to view the mirrors on cars as you can see the drivers eyes. Just drive normally, but when moving lanes etc, check what your doing.

But as you say, there are those biker idiots that have no regards for cars, or themselves, or bikers in general..

@ Power ranger outfit, usually we get the "you have a leather bondage fetish"...

Yes this is true, thats why i think its good for bikes to have headlight on, youve got a hell of alot better chance of seeing them coming, especially if they are giving it some which lets be fair durign summer thats what most of them on sports bikes are out to do, not like they are on their way to tescos or school run.

its just a bit of banter about the power ranger planting his throttle and revving to about 16,000 million rpms in neutral and sounding like a mentally retarded dribbling spakka version of a CTR.

Yes headlight on is the best way forward SetH cept for when it's really sunny as I don't see the point. There is enough glare bouncing of you without adding another light source

Why? Truth hurts or can't you accept other peoples opinions, or do you feel your so much cooler than anyone else that no-one elses opinion matters....

As you say, its a bit of banter, so why get so abusive.....

yeah i do as well on open road, but the slalom chicane swervers in traffic lets face it you not got much chance of seeing them coming, youve got too much else to concentrate on.

Do you ride or have ridden before?, I also give room and move over a little when possible but I know what it's like ont he other side. Many car drivers are less observant when it comes to cyclist, motorcyclists etc..

You will usually find if you do this the biker will raise his/her hand or kick his/her boot out in thanks also..

SetH, my bad, your wording seemed as though you were after harsh banter emails etc are bad as you can never be sure the context of whats being said.

Thats ok about being missed, its no real bother

I usually pull over to the edge of the road if a biker come sup behind as I know he is going to overtake anyway so may aswell let him past a bit safer if I can. They usually wave to thank me. Makes me feel special

had one constantly in my blind spot for about 2-3 miles other day, only way i knew it was there is coz i had friends in the back of the car, i couldnt speed up due to traffic, couldnt change lane or i would have hit him
but although theres alot of bad riders out there, not all are the same, alot of bad drivers too! a car hit my uncles bike which lead to his death (RIP)and that was entirely down to the driver
