Recently bought a gearknob off Adam-D (great seller btw), just went out to attempt to take my original off and it simply wont budge. Its a Corsa SRi (94 - M) and ive tried pulling it with some force, turning it doesnt seem to do anything so im a bit about it all. Ive got one of them Haynes 'modifying' manuals that says it just needs a hard tug, but not too hard you knacker the gear likage hardly informative and was wondering if anyone had any tips.
Thanks
Dan

I got a big built mate to help - he give it a good firm twist to loosen it off, then it came off with some effort

I also employed the help of a big mate. It does just really need a good hard tug, lots of force and the damn thing does just pull off.

method -
turn it like a screw anticlockwise whilst pulling up brought it out quite easily compared to my other efforts. getting the new one back on was a basterdard however. I had to drill a huge hole using a masonry drillpiece then get my dad to use brute force whilst turning to get it to fit on. Whod've thought it was so diffcult for something so bloody simple as the gear knob

Old post back from the dead...
Uh I would, I just got mine (from Adam-D also...cheers mate ) and my old gearknob has a crack in it so comes off easily.
However, getting the new one on might be a PITA since as you mention the hole is way too small on the later style gearknob
